The Medical Sciences course will initially help you to establish a core scientific foundation in the understanding of body systems and their functions using an integrated approach. You will go on to further develop your understanding of physiological and pathological processes, as well as studying the principles of scientific research and exploring patient care, communication and clinical skills. Towards the end of the programme you will have the opportunity to integrate your understanding of the body and pathological processes at a molecular to gross level, and apply it to explain the basis of therapeutic treatments. To achieve this you will initially learn a core of Anatomy and Physiology together with topics such as Immunology, Microbiology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Haematology, Biochemistry. Later on you will cover more advanced subjects relevant to therapy such as Pharmacology and Molecular Medicine. |
